Comparative study of surface integral methods in aeroacoustic prediction

Introduction: Surface integral methods based on the acoustic analogy and Kirchhoff formulation are widely employed in computational aeroacoustics. The accuracy is usually highly dependent selections of prediction method surfaces. Methods: This paper analyzes pros cons each aeroacoustic studies numerically sound generated from flow past a circular cylinder by employing different surface methods. impermeable solid surfaces either ignores quadrupole contribution or needs high cost to calculate contribution, permeable suffers spurious source issue. Results: Both pressure-based density-based formulations can be used prediction, however, numerical results indicate that also issue because pressure fluctuations at contaminated hydrodynamic component.
